The Future Economy Network is delighted to announce we will be welcoming representatives from Sustrans, Bristol City Council & North Somerset Council to discuss sustainable transport in our cities.
Sara Sloman, Principal Sustainable Travel and Road Safety Officer at North Somerset Council, will present on the Go Ultra Low West (GULW) electric vehicle project funded by the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV). There are many changes to come for the West of England region for electric vehicle ownership and GULW can support you or your business prepare for the electric revolution.
Are we travelling in the right direction? Jon Usher, Head of Partnerships at Sustrans will discuss whether the measures set out in the Bristol Transport Strategy and Joint Local Transport Plan will enable a more sustainable travel future. Are the measures an appropriate response to the urgent need to cut carbon emissions by 2030, or are we too car blind tackle the issues head on?
Helen Wigginton, Sustainable Transport Team Leader at Bristol City Council will be discussing "Transport Behaviour Change within Businesses". The Business Engagement Officers at the council can help businesses with travel and transport in Bristol. There is a wealth of support available in Bristol for businesses such as 50% match funded grants to improve sustainable travel along with Electric Vehicle charging point grants. We can also supply businesses with an electric pool bike for short journeys available for 3 to 6 month loans and the bike comes will all necessary accessories and we can organise delivery. We support Active Travel Champions who volunteer within the businesses to promote cycling, walking and public transport travel to friends and colleagues through a package of measures such as emergency cycle repair kit, resources and maps. The Travelwest Roadshow team can visit businesses to engage staff about trying out active and sustainable ways of getting to work and help businesses with a travel to work survey, work with businesses to produce a travel plan, provide resources, staff engagement events, maps and leaflets and much more.
