Dr Nick Banks, Director at People, Planet and Power Company will talk about carbon accounting and carbon management – how to do an energy audit, account for green tariff electricity, set targets for reductions  and then touch on the kinds of measures that could be implemented – behavioural as well as technical.

Owen Hewlett, Chief Technical Officer at Gold Standard will present on the state of and developments in the voluntary carbon market, company reporting and offsetting, post-Paris.

Wendy Stephenson, CEO at The Converging World. The Converging World generates much needed clean green power into India’s grid, generating carbon credits; CDM (Clean Development Mechanisms)/ CER’s (Certified Emission Reductions) which are accredited by the UNFCCC and are registered Gold Standard. Wendy will be talking through the positive social and environmental benefits of carbon offsetting with our credits and others have for companies trying to address their carbon footprints.

Dr Nick Banks, Director, People, Planet and Power Company

Dr Nick Banks is a social researcher specialising in social dimensions of energy consumption but has also served his time working on more technical projects including energy and environmental audits and implementation of environmental management systems. Most recently he has been involved in a number of projects which explore organisational decision making with respect to energy efficiency and environmental issues including the C-tech project where Nick is responsible for designing a toolkit to help facilities managers engage with building occupants and the Micro:bit project where we are designing a IT platform for schools which bring the schoolchildren into the solution of real world energy management problems.

Owen Hewlett, Chief Technical Officer, Gold Standard Foundation

Owen is the Chief Technical Officer at the Gold Standard Foundation, Switzerland.  Founded in 2003 by WWF, Gold Standard pioneers standards and financial mechanisms for climate and sustainable development action, including voluntary carbon credits.  Owen leads all aspects of standards setting and the development of thought leadership and new innovations.

Wendy Stephenson, CEO, The Converging World

Wendy Stephenson has worked in the energy and environment sectors for more than 20 years which included working on the first regional energy strategy (North East Energy Strategy) back in the 1990s as well as overseas assignments for five years on a variety of projects including for Shell and DFID. In 2004 Wendy returned to the UK taking up the post as head of environmental affairs at EEF, representing UK manufacturing and UK Steel on climate change and energy issues both in Westminster and Europe. For the last ten years her primary role has been the CEO of The Converging World, Bristol-based charity which invests in renewable energy in India and uses the surplus income to support reforestation and other environmental and social initiatives. During this time, she has been awarded a Beacon Fellowship for her contribution to ‘Impact Investing’ and led the TCW group to achieve the Deloitte Pioneer Award in 2012.
