Our SUSTAINABility Approach
The Future Economy Network has made a commitment to be carbon neutral in our operations and to consider sustainability in every aspect of the Festival. Here is how we are reducing our environmental impact:
We ask that our delegates use public transport whilst travelling to and from the Festival, we’ve provided some options here.
We have chosen our venues due to their commitment to sustainability. We are working with all venue providers to ensure that sustainability is considered throughout their programmes, including consideration of appropriate heating and lighting and the provision of sustainably sourced refreshments.
Food and Catering
At our Sustainable Food Zone, all have been carefully selected due to their credentials and commitment to locally sourced, eco-friendly, great tasting food. We will ensure that all food containers/cutlery are biodegradable.
Our Gala Dinner will be taking place at the Bristol Hotel (Green Tourism Gold Award, Trip Advisor Green Leaders Gold Award) and the team are liaising with the hotel to ensure that vegetarian, vegan, Fairtrade, organic and local options are on the menu!
To reduce our paper waste, we will not be having printed guides for the Festival. These will be available online for attendees to access through their devices.
For any printed materials, we have ensured that the paper is either recycled or Sustainable FSC® Papers and our ink is less-harmful, vegetable-based ink.
Onsite, during the event, there will be visible separated waste/recycling bins. Please help us maintain a high recycling rate by using the correct bins!
To minimise unnecessary waste, please bring a re-usable coffee cup and a re-usable water bottle to the event. There are refill stations at various locations throughout the city centre: www.bristolwater.co.uk/our-commuity/in-your-community/refill-revolution/
Opportunities to Network and Share Knowledge
The Future Economy Network has various different opportunities available to help you grow your sustainability knowledge, whether that is via the exhibition, attending our seminars or networking at our gala dinner. Why not also consider subscribing to the Network and benefitting from their weekly sustainability-related business networking events? You could also sign up to our newsletter or follow us on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or Instagram to keep abreast of sustainability news and opportunities.
We are working with carbon offset provider, The Converging World to calculate Festival attendee’s carbon footprint. Attendees to the seminars and gala dinner have the option to add this to their ticket price when completing their Eventbrite booking. It is hoped that this will help those attending to consider their carbon footprint in their everyday activities. For those who decide against offsetting their carbon, The Future Economy Group will make their payment. All payments will be made to our chosen charity, The Converging World.
